1. Campus entry restrictions

   Starting on October 15, 2025, the following services are no longer permitted to enter or circulate within the University campus:

• Taxis and Ride-Hailing Vehicles (including Grab, Xanh SM, Be, Tada, etc.)
• Food and Parcel Delivery Services (including Shopee, Tiki, Express, and similar providers)

   Exceptions will only be made for major cases such as severe weather (heavy rain or strong wind), medical necessity (when staff or students are ill and have a valid medical certificate confirming difficulty in mobility), and officicial business (when partners visit the university for official business).

    2. Designated pick-up and drop-off zones

   Passenger pick-up and drop-off services shall take place in front of Gate 1 (Quảng Trường Sáng Tạo Street), Gate 2 (William Shakespeare Street), and Gate 3 (Lê Quý Đôn Street). For online shopping and delivery services, all pick-up and drop-off activities must be conducted outside the university campus to ensure safety, prevent traffic congestion, and minimize disruption to the university’s overall operations.

   All Faculties, Departments, and relevant units are requested to coordinate in disseminating this information thoroughly to staff, visiting lecturers, learners, and students of International University.

• Number of scholarships: 8% of the quota for each major.
• Admissions scholarship criteria: Candidates must achieve the minimum scores as outlined in the table below to be considered for scholarship. During the selectionprocess, students will be ranked in descending order based on their scores and granted scholarships until all the allocated slots are fully awarded.

The planning adjustment area has a total area of 11.52 hectares, covering two land plots HT6.1 (5.19 ha) and HT6.2 (6.33 ha), belonging to the VNU-HCM Construction Sub-Area Plan, located in Dong Hoa Ward, Di An City, Binh Duong Province. The boundaries are as follows: To the North, it borders Lake 3 (Park and Lake Area CX3 according to the VNU-HCM Construction Sub-Area Plan); to the South, it borders Creative Square Road (Central Main Axis according to the VNU-HCM Construction Sub-Area Plan); to the East, it borders Le Quy Don Street (Road TC02 according to the VNU-HCM Construction Sub-Area Plan); to the West, it borders William Shakespeare Street (Road TB01 according to the VNU-HCM Construction Sub-Area Plan).

The objective of this adjustment is to concretize the VNU-HCM Construction Sub-Area Plan, which was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 790/QD-TTg on July 3, 2023; to incorporate new construction elements in line withIU development plan with a modern, rational, distinctive, and sustainable architectural space, to gradually meet the full range of facilities serving high-quality training, promote scientific research, technology transfer, practical application, and extracurricular activities of students in a synchronous manner; and to ensure synchronous connectivity between the two land plots of the university, with the construction areas of other member units of VNU-HCM and with the surrounding urban area.

Regarding the nature of the planning, IU is a training and learning area under VNU-HCM according to the VNU-HCM Construction Sub-Area Plan, recognized as one of Asia’s leading research-oriented universities; an international, autonomous, creative educational institution that develops high-quality human resources meeting regional and international standards; a place where scientists and experts in various fields gather to work, conduct research, and exchange academic knowledge, forming the basis for international scientific publications as well as communityserving applied research.

The content of this planning adjustment focuses on several important categories such as teaching, learning, and research areas; sports area; areas for innovation activities, canteens, clubs, and recreation, serving learners; a square area, lakeside landscape ensuring respect for the natural terrain, promoting the unique characteristics of IU; etc. The constructions are all arranged rationally, both symbolically and fully meeting modern technical standards. These areas play an important role in creating more open spaces combined with green systems and water surfaces for teachers and students, encouraging community activities, especially outdoor activities, ensuring a healthy, friendly, and sustainable working and learning environment.

The Ministry of Construction’s approval of the Adjustment of the detailed construction plan for IU is the legal basis for the IU construction investment implementation and the construction management according to the approved plan in the near future.

On the evening of June 2, 2024, Hồ Ngọc Phương Trinh, Nguyễn Gia An, Vũ Thị Mai Phương, and Ứng Phương Huyền—four students from the Mathematics Department of the International University (VNU–HCM)—won the first prize of the National Student Science Competition “Olympic in Econometrics and Applications” 2024, organised by the Central Committee of the Youth Union and the Academy of Finance.

The final round of the 9th National Student Science Competition “Olympic in Econometrics and Applications” 2024, organised by the Central Committee of the Youth Union and the Academy of Finance. and the Institute of Mathematics, honoured six outstanding research projects that won first prizes this year. Among them was the project by four students from the Mathematics Department titled “Integrating multiple Garch-type models and deep learning for financial risk forecasting: performance evaluation and hybrid model selection.”
The competition is held annually in May by the Central Committee of the Youth Union and the Academy of Finance and the Institute of Mathematics, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Each year, the competition attracts an average of over 300 students from 25-35 universities across the country, with around 120-150 projects. Notably, in recent years, the competition has attracted many Vietnamese students studying abroad to return and participate.

This year, the competition received 266 research projects from 21 universities and academies across the country, marking a significant growth (up 64% from 2023), affirming the increase in both the quantity and quality of projects from these “young researchers”. After nearly two months of diligent work, the judging panel selected 12 projects to report in the final round of the competition on June 2, 2024. The four students from the Mathematics Department of International University excelled and won the championship along with five other groups from five universities and academies nationwide.

It is known that the research group worked on the project from November 2023 to March 2024. The group noticed that Bitcoin and gold are assets of great interest to many investors and have high volatility, they decided to choose a research topic that integrates GARCH models and deep learning models (Bi-LSTM) to predict the volatility of returns for Bitcoin, Gold, and SP500, thereby estimating and forecasting common risk measures such as Value at Risk and Expected Shortfall. Additionally, the project used Granger causality tests of these assets and proposes hedging strategies to mitigate risks. The group understood that this was a challenging topic for juniors as it required deep knowledge of econometric models, machine learning models, and especially financial risk management knowledge. The group faced many failures in designing a good hybrid model to accurately predict the volatility of these assets. However, they worked diligently, and after five months of serious effort, the research group managed to overcome difficulties and completed the project with many good results, highly appreciated by the judging panel. Notably, this is the second consecutive time that Hồ Ngọc Phương Trinh and Nguyễn Gia An have participated in the final round of the competition, and this time they won the first prize.

Over the past 10 years, the competition has become a good playground to encourage students to engage in quantitative research in economics and finance from their early university years. After 10 years, alongside the increase in the number of schools, students, and projects, the quality of the projects has significantly improved. Many projects are written and presented in English, and the proportion of freshmen and sophomores has increased. The organisers aim for students to engage in science earlier, approach quantitative research sooner, and be well-prepared for their graduation theses and quantitative applications after graduation.

In recent years, many projects have been completed and selected for publication in specialised journals. The competition aims to apply mathematical models, econometric models, and informatics to solve problems in socio-economic fields, which is very challenging. Scientific research requires the companionship of teachers, the persistence not only of one student but also the scientific collaboration of students from various disciplines. Passionate work with high determination creates a bond between teachers and students, forming research groups, helping students experience a serious, honest, and effective scientific research process. The competition provides a platform for students to confidently present their initial research results, with the primary importance being the students’ confidence rather than the completeness of the research.

Students from the Department of Mathematics at the International University won the first prize of the competition on the evening of June 2, 2024, in Hanoi.

Major U.S. universities, such as Alabama State University, Albany State University, California State University, Chicago State University, Florida A&M University, are also part of this accreditation. Our School of Business Administration has achieved the highest accreditation level from ACBSP, and is valid for 10 years, which is also the longest validity. Our graduates will significantly benefit if they choose to pursue higher studies or work abroad, as they are educated and graduated from an internationally accredited program.”

This achievement marks a significant milestone in enhancing the quality of education and training in the School of Business Administration, specifically in the majors of Business Administration, International Business, Marketing, and Hospitality Management, as well as for the International University (Vietnam National University-HCMC) in general.

The accreditation council emphasizes excellence through an accreditation process based on the Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence.
